The Secretary can pay grants in parts, before work starts, or as reimbursements. The Secretary can also change payments if too much or too little was paid. If the Secretary or a court finds that someone knowingly lied or hid important facts to get grant money they would not have gotten, or that someone misused grant money, that person must repay the funds. Any repaid money goes back to the general fund of the U.S. Treasury. Making false statements to get or increase grant payments, or taking grant money for the wrong purpose, is not allowed.
