§4503 Fellowship Recipients

Summary

The Foundation can give fellowships for graduate study that lead to a Master of Arts in Teaching or another suitable teacher’s master’s degree, with a major in social studies or American history. Each fellow must take at least twelve semester hours (or the equivalent) of courses directly about the U.S. Constitution, as the Board decides. James Madison fellowships are for people who are, or want to become, social studies or American history teachers: junior fellowships are for students about to finish or just finished college who will start graduate work mostly full-time, and senior fellowships are for experienced teachers who will study part-time, such as in summers or evening programs.
