Title 20 › Chapter 65— NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION › § 5501
The federal government, led by the Environmental Protection Agency, must support and expand education about the environment for students and the adults who work with them. The law says environmental threats are getting more complex and global. Cities and rural areas are both at risk. Solving these problems needs people who understand nature and built places, who know where problems come from, and who have strong technical skills. Current federal efforts and training are not enough. To fix this, the government will work with schools, colleges, state education offices, nonprofits, public educational broadcasters, private businesses, and natural resource agencies (like the U.S. Forest Service). They must help create curricula, projects, and programs that teach about the environment, build a skilled workforce, and encourage college students to choose environmental careers and advanced technical training.
