Title 20 › Chapter 3— SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION, NATIONAL MUSEUMS AND ART GALLERIES › Subchapter VI— JOSEPH H. HIRSHHORN MUSEUM AND SCULPTURE GARDEN › § 76bb
Named forever the Joseph H. Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, it must be a free public museum run by the Smithsonian’s Board of Regents. The Board must work with the Secretary of the Interior so the Garden fits the Mall’s open-space plan and any related street or underground garage projects. The United States promises to pay what is needed to maintain and operate the museum. It will permanently hold Joseph H. Hirshhorn’s and his foundation’s art for storage, display, study, and museum business.
