Title 20 › Chapter 3— SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION, NATIONAL MUSEUMS AND ART GALLERIES › Subchapter VIII— PALEONTOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS › § 78
The Secretary of the Smithsonian can work with states, schools, or scientific groups to keep studying, dig up, and protect fossils in places that will be flooded or otherwise lost because of government dam projects or similar construction. These efforts must not repeat or hurt any similar work the Department of the Interior is doing with the Smithsonian.
