Title 20 › Chapter 70— STRENGTHENING AND IMPROVEMENT OF ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS › Subchapter VIII— GENERAL PROVISIONS › Part F— Uniform Provisions › Subpart 2— other provisions › § 7925
Congress says students’ personal information must be kept private and only shared with school staff who teach those students unless parents are clearly told. Because schools use more technology and more research is done on learning, protecting that information is more important than ever. The Secretary must make sure any group that gets federal education money keeps students’ personal data secret. Congress also says the Secretary should review all privacy rules under this law to make sure students’ information is protected and not shared or sold by people who might misuse it.
