§80r–2 Establishment of Museum

Summary

A museum called the National Museum of African American History and Culture is set up inside the Smithsonian Institution. The museum must collect and study items and run programs about African American life, art, history, and culture, covering the period of slavery, the era of Reconstruction, the Harlem Renaissance, the civil rights movement, and other times in the African American diaspora. It must create and keep permanent and temporary exhibits, gather artifacts and documents, and work with other museums, historically black colleges and universities, historical societies, schools, and similar groups on exhibits, collection care, and training museum staff.
