Title 20 › Chapter 72— MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES › Subchapter II— LIBRARY SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGY › § 9121
Sets 12 goals to improve and coordinate federal programs that support libraries, schools, and information services. The goals aim to make library services better everywhere, make it easier for people to get information, and encourage libraries to share resources so services are cheaper and work better. They also promote reading, education, and lifelong learning, including teaming up with school libraries (including tribal schools) and backing state, tribal, and local education efforts. The goals help libraries meet community needs for people of different places, cultures, and incomes, including people with disabilities, Native communities, military families, veterans, and caregivers. Libraries should support jobs, business growth, health and digital skills, financial literacy, and new technology. The goals also cover training workers, recruiting diverse staff, preserving collections, helping in disasters, strengthening research and innovation roles, building collaborations at all levels, and encouraging library‑museum partnerships.
