Defines two words used in this part: "museum" and "State." A "museum" is a public, tribal, or private nonprofit place that exists long-term for education, culture, or art. It has professional staff, owns or uses physical objects, cares for them, and shows them to the public regularly; it includes places with physical or digital collections such as aquariums, botanical gardens, art museums, planetariums, science centers, historic sites, and zoos. "State" means each of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau.
