Starting August 2, 2005, the two national endowments may accept and invest gifts of money, property, or services in the name of the United States to support their work. After a gift is accepted, the donor must pay the proceeds to the Chairman, who must put them in an interest‑bearing account and credit them to the proper endowment and purpose.
