Congress sets a national goal to use the federal government’s resources to fight drug abuse. The aim is to greatly cut how often drug abuse happens and to lower its social and personal harms, and to create and carry out a long-term, coordinated federal plan. The plan focuses on four areas: planning and aid for states and communities, community prevention, workplace prevention and treatment, and more federal research.
