Defines key words used in the chapter. Anti-doping organization, athlete, prohibited method, and prohibited substance all mean what Article 2 of the Convention says. Code means the World Anti-Doping Code adopted by WADA on March 5, 2003. Convention means the UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sport done at Paris on October 19, 2005, and ratified by the United States in 2008. Major International Sport Competition means a competition that (1) has one or more United States athletes and three or more athletes from other countries, (2) is run under the Code’s anti-doping rules, and (3) has an organizer or sanctioning body that either gets sponsorship or other financial support from a business doing business in the United States or is paid for the right to broadcast the event in the United States; it can be one event or a series of events that together qualify an athlete or team for an award or recognition. Person means any individual or organization (for example, a partnership, corporation, or association). Scheme in commerce means any scheme carried out in whole or in part by using interstate or foreign commerce facilities for transportation or communication. USADA means the United States Anti-Doping Agency. WADA means the World Anti-Doping Agency.
