Title 21 › Chapter 10— POULTRY AND POULTRY PRODUCTS INSPECTION › § 467a
An inspector working for the Secretary can hold poultry, poultry products, or dead, dying, injured, or sick birds found where they are stored or sold if there is reason to think they are unsafe, mislabeled, not inspected, or being distributed in violation of federal or state law. The inspector can keep the items for up to 20 days while officials begin further action under section 467b or notify other government authorities. No one may move the items until the inspector releases them. The inspector may also require removal of any official stamps or labels before release, unless the Secretary agrees the items can keep them.
