Title 21 › Chapter 10— POULTRY AND POULTRY PRODUCTS INSPECTION › § 467e
States, territories, and the District of Columbia cannot make extra or different rules for the buildings, equipment, or operations of official establishments beyond the federal rules in this chapter. They may, however, impose recordkeeping and other requirements under paragraph (b) of section 460 if those rules agree with the federal ones. They also cannot add different marking, labeling, packaging, ingredient, storage, or handling rules that the Secretary finds would unduly block the free flow of poultry products made at official establishments. States, territories, and D.C. may work with the Secretary to stop the sale for human food of inspected articles that are adulterated or misbranded when those items are outside an official establishment, or stop imported articles after they enter the United States. They may also make other rules or take actions that are consistent with the chapter for matters the chapter covers.
