Title 21 › Chapter 10— POULTRY AND POULTRY PRODUCTS INSPECTION › § 471
The Safe Meat and Poultry Inspection Panel must review and evaluate, when needed, whether inspection methods and worker rules at inspected meat and poultry plants are good, needed, safe, cost-effective, and supported by science. It looks at inspection practices and worker issues, informal or formal proposals to change inspections or rules, and any other related matters the Secretary sends to it. After each review the panel must send a report with its findings and any recommendations to the Secretary. If the report is about a formal rule change, the panel must file it within the time allowed for official comments on that change.
