§679c Expansion of Food Safety Inspection Service Activities

Title 21 › Chapter 12— MEAT INSPECTION › Subchapter IV— AUXILIARY PROVISIONS › § 679c

Last updated Apr 5, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Secretary of Agriculture can use existing powers to make improving and growing the Food Safety Inspection Service a top priority. That means better inspections of meat and poultry, more checks of imported meat, poultry, and egg products where they are made and when they arrive, more sharing of information and technology with USDA, federal agencies, states, and Indian tribes (Native American governments), and stronger protection against bioterrorism. Congress may provide $15,000,000 for fiscal year 2002, and whatever sums are needed for each later fiscal year.
