Title 22 › Chapter 107— SUDAN DEMOCRATIC TRANSITION, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND FISCAL TRANSPARENCY › § 10003
Allows the President to use U.S. foreign assistance to help Sudan’s move toward democracy, stronger government, the rule of law, and human rights. This permission applies despite other laws, except for the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (22 U.S.C. 7101 et seq.) and the Child Soldiers Prevention Act of 2008. Support can fund programs that build civilian institutions, political parties, and civil society; help organize free and fair elections; give legal and policy advice to boost transparency and protect rights (including religious freedom); defend freedoms like speech, press, assembly, and association; increase women’s participation; and other related activities. Of the funds authorized under parts of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 (22 U.S.C. 2151 et seq. and 2346 et seq.), $20,000,000 is authorized for each of fiscal years 2021 and 2022 to carry out these purposes.
