Title 22 › Chapter 107— SUDAN DEMOCRATIC TRANSITION, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND FISCAL TRANSPARENCY › § 10009
The Secretary of State, working with the Secretary of the Treasury and the Attorney General, must help the Government of Sudan recover assets stolen from the Sudanese people. They must find and track money or property taken by theft, corruption, money laundering, or other illegal means. For assets found, they must work with other governments and international groups to share financial investigation information when needed, help oversee and manage the assets, support court cases to seize stolen assets, and give technical help so countries can create the legal rules to do that. They must also work with Sudan to set up a trustworthy system so recovered assets are managed openly and used for the benefit of the Sudanese people, are not used for partisan political purposes, and have strong financial safeguards.
