Title 22 › Chapter 21— SETTLEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CLAIMS › Subchapter III— CLAIMS AGAINST BULGARIA, HUNGARY, RUMANIA, ITALY, AND THE SOVIET UNION › § 1641p
Agents, lawyers, or other representatives cannot be paid more than 10% of the total award on a claimant’s claim unless the Commission allows more. Any deal that pays more is void. Anyone who takes more than the limit, knowing others were paid too, can be fined $5,000, jailed for twelve months, or both. Within three months after the Commission finishes settling all claims from the fund, an agent or lawyer who thinks they deserve more can ask the Commission, using its rules. The Commission may allow extra pay only for special hardship, must say how much extra, and its decision is final.
