Title 22 › Chapter 21— SETTLEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CLAIMS › Subchapter VII— CLAIMS AGAINST VIETNAM › § 1645b
The Commission must accept and decide claims by U.S. nationals (people or companies from the United States) against Vietnam for losses that happened on or after April 29, 1975 when property was seized, nationalized, expropriated, or otherwise taken or targeted, and no restoration or fair payment was made. Those claims must be filed during the time the Commission sets in a notice in the Federal Register. That filing period cannot be longer than two years from the notice date, and the notice must be published within sixty days after December 28, 1980 or within sixty days after the date Congress provides funding for the Commission, whichever comes later.
