Title 22 › Chapter 29— CULTURAL, TECHNICAL, AND EDUCATIONAL CENTERS › Subchapter I— CENTER BETWEEN EAST AND WEST › § 2056
The Secretary can use the powers given by the United States Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 when carrying out this subchapter. The Secretary may accept money and property from public or private sources to help run the Center and has the same powers to use gifts as when accepting gifts for the George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center under section 2697. For federal income, estate, and gift tax rules, any gift accepted under this subchapter is treated as a gift to or for the use of the United States. The Director of the United States Information Agency must send periodic reports to Congress when he thinks they are needed, and those reports may include suggestions for changes to this subchapter.
