Ocean shipments between foreign countries of goods, defense items, or fresh‑fruit transfers that are paid for with foreign currencies from funds under this chapter or the Food for Peace Act (7 U.S.C. 1691 et seq.) do not have to follow section 55305 of title 46. They also do not have to follow any other law that requires using United States‑flag ships for carrying those commodities.
