After talking with the Agriculture Secretary and, when appropriate, the Interior Secretary about commodity markets and prices, the Treasury Secretary must regularly tell the U.S. Executive Director at each international development bank to work with the other bank directors. They must back projects that raise incomes, create jobs, and increase what people can buy, especially for the rural poor. They must also push countries to move away from relying on a single crop or product so big price swings and sudden changes in trade hurt them less.
