The Treasury Secretary must tell the U.S. representative at the IMF to use America’s voice and vote to push the IMF to set global standards and share best practices on government debt deals. The IMF should also give technical help, especially to lower middle-income countries and those that can get World Bank IDA aid, so they can better review the legal and financial terms of debt from international groups, other countries, and private lenders.
