Title 22 › Chapter 7— INTERNATIONAL BUREAUS, CONGRESSES, ETC. › § 262p–12
Tell the Secretary of the Treasury to order the U.S. representatives at the IMF, the International Development Association, the Inter‑American Development Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and similar international lenders to use U.S. influence to get Haiti’s remaining debts to those institutions wiped out right away. They must also push to stop Haiti’s debt payments until the debts are canceled and to get emergency, humanitarian, and rebuilding aid as grants (not loans) delivered before February 1, 2015. The Treasury must also tell the U.S. IMF representative to ask that some of the extra profits from selling 12,965,649 ounces of gold — profits that are more than what is needed for the IMF’s Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust — be used to reduce Haiti’s debt and debt payments and to give grants before February 1, 2015. The Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of State must use diplomatic efforts to try to cancel any remaining debts Haiti owes to governments, multilateral lenders, and private creditors.
