§2703a Emergency Back-up Care

Summary
The Secretary and the USAID Administrator may provide unexpected non-medical help for USAID and Department employees and their family members. This can cover things like child care, eldercare, and other services needed because of a sudden injury or illness. They can give the services directly, refer people to providers, or pay back reasonable costs. Total spending for these services cannot exceed $2,000,000 in any fiscal year.

(a)The Secretary and the Administrator for the United States Agency for International Development are authorized to provide for unanticipated non-medical care, including dependent child and eldercare, and essential services directly related to caring for an acute injury or illness, for USAID and Department employees and their family members, including through the provision of such non-medical services, referrals to care providers, and reimbursement of reasonable expenses for such services.
(b)Services provided pursuant to this section shall not exceed $2,000,000 per fiscal year.
