Title 22 › Chapter 39— ARMS EXPORT CONTROL › Subchapter II— FOREIGN MILITARY SALES AUTHORIZATIONS › § 2766
Says U.S. security assistance surveys for other countries are not a promise to send military equipment, and any recommendations must follow U.S. arms export policy. In the quarterly report required by section 2776(a), the President must list every survey authorized in the preceding calendar quarter, naming the country, the survey’s purpose, and how many U.S. Government personnel took part or will take part. If the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee or the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee asks, the President must give that committee copies of surveys done by U.S. Government personnel. "Security assistance surveys" means studies done in another country by U.S. Government staff to assess that country’s security assistance needs, including defense requirement, site, general, and engineering assessment surveys.
