§277d–14 Construction, Operation, and Maintenance on Self-liquidating Basis of Facilities for Generating Hydroelectric Energy

Summary

When an agreement under section 277d–13 approves a major international storage dam, the Secretary of State, through the U.S. Commissioner of the International Boundary and Water Commission, may make an agreement with Mexican officials under Article 7 of the Feb. 3, 1944 treaty to build, run, and maintain the United States’ share of self‑liquidating hydroelectric facilities. If the countries agree to build separate power facilities, the U.S. Commissioner must build, run, and maintain those self‑liquidating facilities for the United States.
