The federal government must create clear, standard rules for approving and taking part in international expositions held in the United States. Well-run world expositions can boost the local economy and help countries share ideas and culture when they have international approval. Because past federal involvement has varied and more proposals are being made, the government needs a consistent way to review and decide on future expositions.
