The President must appoint a Bank Governor, an Alternate Governor, and a Director. The Governor and Alternate need Senate approval or must be chosen from officials who already require Senate approval. The Director also needs Senate approval. The Governor and Alternate get no pay from the United States for those roles. The Director may get U.S. pay so that total pay and benefits match those allowed for a chief of mission under the Foreign Service Act of 1980 (22 U.S.C. 3901 et seq.).
