The U.S. Governor of the Bank may vote to raise the Bank’s authorized capital stock by 70,000 shares. If that increase goes into effect, the United States may buy 13,005 of those new shares, but any purchase only counts to the extent and amount Congress approves in advance in funding laws. Congress may set aside up to $1,568,856,318, with no fiscal year limit, for the Secretary of the Treasury to pay for the United States’ additional shares.
