The United States will keep and strengthen work with other countries to research major diseases such as heart disease and cancer. Because these illnesses are common, cause serious sickness and death, and slow economic growth and living conditions, Congress asks the World Health Organization to begin studies to help improve research and related programs for both worldwide and region-specific diseases.
