Title 22 › Chapter 48— TAIWAN RELATIONS › § 3305
The President must have U.S. programs, agreements, and other dealings with Taiwan handled through a private organization chosen by the President. Any U.S. agreement or transaction about Taiwan must be done through that organization as the President directs, and local D.C. or state laws cannot block it from doing its work. The Institute: the American Institute in Taiwan, a nonprofit in the District of Columbia, or a similar private successor the President names.
