The Director of the Foreign Service Institute must report to the Assistant Secretary for Human Resources about running, managing, and planning the training required under section 4021. The Institute must have at least four schools that meet the rules in this subchapter. The School of Professional and Area Studies teaches job-focused orientation, practical skills, and regional area studies, and runs new-employee orientation. The School of Leadership and Management Studies teaches leadership and crisis management. The School of Applied Information Technology Studies trains IT staff to run and maintain the Department’s computer and tech systems. The School of Foreign Languages provides language instruction as required by law and as directed by the Secretary.
