Until the United States has a consular officer living in the State of the Vatican City, a U.S. consular officer in the city of Rome, Kingdom of Italy, can authenticate copies of public Vatican City records that the official keeper has certified. If authenticated under section 1741 of title 28, those copies must be accepted as evidence in any United States court.
