Title 22 › Chapter 53B— FOREIGN RELATIONS OF THE UNITED STATES HISTORICAL SERIES › § 4352
The State Department Historian must prepare the FRUS series and pick which records to include. An advisory committee reviews records and gives advice to the Historian, including on record selection under section 4353. Other federal agencies must help by giving full access and copies of records about U.S. foreign policy under those procedures, except they do not have to provide records created less than 20 years before a request. NARA’s duty to give access or copies to State follows chapter 21 of title 44, any agreement between State and NARA, and section 2204 of that title for Presidential records.
