People permanently assigned or on long-term temporary duty at a high risk, high threat post designated by the Secretary of State must get mandatory security training to help them live and work safely there. The training builds basic skills and may cover recognizing and responding to terrorist or complex attacks, surveillance detection, emergency medical care, finding improvised explosive devices, basic firearms familiarization, and defensive driving. Took effect December 16, 2016. Complex attack — an attack by multiple hostile elements using at least two different classes of weapons (for example, indirect fire, direct fire, improvised explosive devices, or surface-to-air fire). High risk, high threat post — defined in section 4803.
