Title 22 › Chapter 68A— COOPERATIVE THREAT REDUCTION WITH STATES OF FORMER SOVIET UNION › § 5958
Authorizes $979,000,000 for fiscal year 1993 to the Operation and Maintenance, Defense Agencies account to provide aid to the independent states of the former Soviet Union. The Secretary of Defense may transfer up to that $979,000,000 to other Defense accounts or to the Department of State and other U.S. agencies to fund aid programs for those states if the President finds the programs will increase U.S. national security. Transferred funds follow the same rules as the accounts they move into, the transfer power is additional to other DoD transfer authorities, and the President must coordinate these programs with other laws and with Public Law 102–511.
