§8511 Definitions

Summary

Defines the key words used in this part of the law. Agricultural commodity means what section 5602 of title 7 says. Appropriate congressional committees means what section 14 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (Public Law 104–172; 50 U.S.C. 1701 note) says, as changed by section 102 of this Act. Executive agency means what section 133 of title 41 says. Family member means a spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandchild, or grandparent. Iranian diplomat or representative of other government or military or quasi‑governmental institutions of Iran means the group defined in section 14 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 (Public Law 104–172; 50 U.S.C. 1701 note). Knowingly means having actual knowledge or that a person should have known. Medical device and medicine mean the terms “device” and “drug” as defined in section 321 of title 21. State lists the States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and any other U.S. territory or possession. United States person means a natural person who is a U.S. citizen, resident, or national (see section 1101(a) of title 8) or an entity organized under U.S. or State law.
