The Secretary of Commerce can assign any Office of Export Enforcement employee to do the enforcement actions listed in clauses (i)–(iii) of section 12(a)(3)(B) of the Export Administration Act of 1979 (50 U.S.C. App. 2411(a)(3)(B)). This can happen when the employee is enforcing the Export Administration Act as applied under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.), enforcing this subchapter or other export-control laws Commerce is responsible for, or enforcing any license, order, or regulation under those laws.
