Title 22 › Chapter 101— COUNTERING IRAN’S DESTABILIZING ACTIVITIES › § 9408
The President must send a report to the relevant congressional committees within 180 days after August 2, 2017, and then every 180 days. The report must list cases where the United States put sanctions on a person for spreading weapons of mass destruction or their delivery systems to or from Iran, supporting international terrorism by Iran, or human rights abuses in Iran, but the European Union did not, and the opposite cases where the EU sanctioned someone but the U.S. did not. For each difference, the report must say why. The first report covers August 2, 2017 through the report date. Later reports cover the previous 180 days. The report must be unclassified but can include a classified annex.
