From Oct. 12, 1984, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) funds can pay Indians' school or boarding-home costs — care, tuition, and other expenses — up front or from admission, and can also pay rewards for information or evidence about law violations on reservations or in treaty-fishing areas.
