The Secretary can support traditional health care practices if they follow the Service’s rules for health care, health promotion, and disease prevention. The United States is not responsible if a patient is harmed, injured, or killed by those practices, but that does not change any other U.S. duties under the Indian Self‑Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C. 450 et seq.) or under this chapter.
