Parent — a child’s biological parent or an Indian person who lawfully adopted the child; does not include an unwed father whose paternity is not established. Reservation — Indian country as defined by law and lands held in trust for tribes or Indians or lands the United States restricts from being sold. Secretary — the Secretary of the Interior. Tribal court — a tribal court or administrative body that has authority over child custody cases, including Courts of Indian Offenses.
