Title 25 › Chapter 26— INDIAN ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT › Subchapter V— BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS LAW ENFORCEMENT › § 2455
The Secretary of the Interior must make the Bureau of Indian Affairs collect data on police and court actions involving Indians when alcohol or other substance abuse is a contributing factor. That data covers calls and encounters, arrests and detentions, and how cases are handled, whether the BIA runs the program directly or under contracts in 25 U.S.C. 5321 et seq. Each year the data must go to the affected Indian tribe and the Tribal Coordinating Committee to help create or update a tribal action plan, and also to the Indian Health Service unit director for the tribal report under section 2477. The information must be kept confidential so families and individuals stay private.
