Title 25 › Chapter 7— EDUCATION OF INDIANS › § 276
The Secretary of the Army can set aside empty military posts or barracks to open regular and job-training schools for Indian youth from nomadic tribes with treaty claims, as long as the sites are not needed for military use. The Army can assign one or more officers to work at each school under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior. Funds already provided or that will be provided for general Indian education can be spent, under the Secretary of the Interior’s direction, to teach Indian youth at those posts, institutions, and schools he thinks are useful or as Congress allows.
