Title 25 › Chapter 7A— PROMOTION OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC WELFARE › § 306a
Starting May 9, 1938, the Secretary of the Interior can give advance payments to old, disabled, or poor Indian allottees to help support them. These advances count as debts attached to their land until they are paid back. Payments for fiscal year 1939 must come from the appropriations mentioned here; payments for later fiscal years must come from appropriations made specifically for that purpose and follow rules the Secretary sets.
