Title 25 › Chapter 34— INDIAN CHILD PROTECTION AND FAMILY VIOLENCE PREVENTION › § 3206
If local child protective services or police believe an Indian child in Indian country was abused, they can take photos and x‑rays, do medical or psychological exams, and interview the child without getting the parent’s, guardian’s, or custodian’s permission. Those exams and interviews must try to avoid extra trauma and, when there is time, should be done with the advice or guidance of a local multidisciplinary team under section 3210 or, if none, under section 3209. If there is reasonable suspicion, a federal magistrate judge or a U.S. District Court may order these rules be followed.
