Title 25 › Chapter 10— DESCENT AND DISTRIBUTION; HEIRS OF ALLOTTEE › § 380
Reservation superintendents may lease restricted allotments of deceased Indians, except for oil and gas mining, if the heirs aren’t known or if the heirs are known but the land is unused and they can’t agree on a lease within a three-month period. Under rules set by the Secretary of the Interior, the money from such leases must be put into the proper estates or accounts and distributed in proportion to each person’s interest.
