§4104 Waiver of Matching Funds Requirements in Indian Housing Programs

Title 25 › Chapter 43— NATIVE AMERICAN HOUSING ASSISTANCE AND SELF-DETERMINATION › § 4104

Last updated Apr 5, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development can let an Indian housing authority get program aid even if other laws say the authority must add matching money, but only when the authority did not receive money under title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 [42 U.S.C. 5301 et seq.] for that fiscal year. The Secretary decides how long the waiver lasts, and it cannot go past that fiscal year or past when the authority receives any title I amounts. "Housing program" means programs run by HUD or the Department of Agriculture (through the Farmers Home Administration) that give help for housing, like contracts, grants, loans, cooperative agreements, or loan insurance/guarantees.
